    Bodrum

You’ll find many aromas and perfumes to fill your nostrils in Bodrum!

Bodrum has a varied flora and fauna because of its unique geography, geological structure, and diverse climate.

    Smell the Olives

Olives mature in early winter (in December) in and around Bodrum. During this period, it’s possible to smell the olives while you’re walking around the olive groves in the region.

Olives are one of the oldest agricultural sources of income in Bodrum. The olives are collected then taken to the local olive press houses to produce the oils.

Smell the Flowers in the Spring Months

During the late winter/early springtime the region becomes more colourful every day. Some plants that bloom in autumn continue to bloom in early winter, and new plants also join them. Among them, crocus pallasii (a kind of crocus-type saffron)  adorns the region's high hills with its elegant lilac flowers. Hugging and climbing plants such as silcan (smilax aspera) and  ivy (clematis cirrhosa) continue strongly into the spring and add beauty to Bodrum with their flowers.

The time that the different flowers come into bloom can vary according to differentiations in the local climate. Tulips (anemone coronaria, a. pavonina) are usually in flower at start of the spring as winter ends. They decorate the environs with red, purple and blue flowers. These beautiful plants continue to decorate the Peninsula until mid-spring.
